Fleet 518 is looking forward to hosting our their one-day regatta — the Poquoson Challenge & Crab Kill — on the beautiful Poquoson River on Saturday, July 19. This is a fantastic, fun regatta with a great party afterwards and the chance for some pleasure sailing on Sunday. The drive is three hours from DC area via I95, RT 17 (nice drive, police, but few trucks and cars), or 95, 64 and 17.

The Poquoson Challenge is a one-day event sponsored by Fleet 518. The regatta will be held on the beautiful Poquoson River just south of the York River on Saturday, July 19th
Entrance fee: $10.00. Dinner $5.00/person
This is strictly a fun regatta. You can sail with one person or as many as you like. The first race will start at 1:00. There will be 4 or 5 short windward /leeward races. These races will be governed by the “Racing Rules of Sailing.” No protests, please.
Racing will be followed by a crab and beer feast. Hamburgers/hotdogs will be available. Yeungling will be the beer! The party will be held at 238 King’s Grant Dr. Yorktown, VA.
Rooms are available on a first come first served basis. There is plenty of room for tenting and sleeping bags.
Sunday offers a wonderful opportunity to daysail your Lightning to the Bay or come aboard our Hunter 38 and head out. An alternative is to visit historic Yorktown or the Mariner’s Museum that is World class.
Public launching is available on the Poquoson with a tow available if needed.

From I-64, take exit 256B and merge onto Victory Boulevard toward Poquoson.
Go 3 miles and turn left onto N. Big Bethel Road. (there is a stoplight).
Go .2 miles and turn right onto Tide Mill Road.
Go .6 miles to Rodgers A. Smith Landing Boat Ramp.

Turn left onto VA-706/Yorktown Rd
